ASSIGNMENT CRISIS!!!

Once upon a time encyclopedia is the fad. From A-Z , I can find answers to my assignments. From one sentence definition I stretch it to make a one elaborated paragraph that mostly composed of 1 sentence that truly answers the question and the rest…like darts that never really hit bulls-eye but definitely helps to make the required 1 page assignment.
Now with just clicks on my computer I can access hundreds of sources. Internet is a virtual library right in front of our eyes without the dust and spiders lurking in the corners but then there’s virus…and that’s another topic.
Too much information can be very overwhelming. So how can we filter this enormous amount of information and get only the answers that we need?  Below is a list that I made to guide you on your online research.

  1. Get to the Point-  Say it directly, computers just like people are not mind readers. Be specific on your research. If you need “ Parts of the Microscope with definition” then type ““ Parts of the Microscope with definition”  on the Google Search box. It’s as easy as that.

  1. Collect and Collect and then Select- just like a playboy’s motto you just want to stick with the best answer and you wouldn’t know that if you’re not going to take a glimpse of every results showed by Google. But not to the point of opening hundreds of webpages coz a playboy just picks his type, thus you should just click websites that you think gives valuable answers.
Every website has distinct content thus you can actually collate them just make sure ideas presented are not repetitive.

3. Meet the Parents- just like the saying “kung anong bunga syang puno” , thus we should always check the credibility of the website. Check the academic background of the author and the references he/she used. If there’s any doubt on the research then better to trash, you don’t want to be a carrier of wrong information.

 4. Respect for the Parents- Don’t be an ingrate, give credit to the author. It’s actually an additional pogi points for you if you add references to your research even though it was not required by your teacher. It gives much credibility to your paper since your teacher can counter check your references for any clarification. It’s your Pontius Pilate way of washing hands from any blame if there’s any erroneous information on your paper.

  5. Strut Your Own Stuff- Plagiarism (copying other’s ideas) is a big No in research even if it is just for a simple assignment given by your teacher. Copy and paste and even changing the font size or style is still plagiarism. Be different; say it with your own words. Sweat it, so the result will be sweeter.

 6. Explore- Just keep on exploring the world of internet, and you’ll find enormous treasures. Treasures in forms of knowledge and fun. Below is a list of recommended websites that could help you in your research.

  1. http://www.wikipedia.org/-  this is your online source of encyclopedia which covers almost all of the topics that your teacher might give you as an assignment. No more flipping of heavy encyclopedia books and dealing with grumpy librarian.

2.  http://www.google.com-  just type your keywords to the search box and in one click hundreds of references are displayed. Other alternative is Yahoo.com.

3.  http://www.youtube.com/-  your online source of instruction videos, music videos, missed shows, news, funny clips and so much more.
